Built in Pinetown, shaped by local production realities
Flexography Printing Co started in 2009 with a clear focus: help local brands get flexible packaging made properly, on time and with less back and forth. From our Pinetown base in KwaZulu-Natal, we work with businesses that need packaging that can move through filling lines, handle storage, and present well on the shelf. For many customers, the real need is not just print quality but consistency from one repeat order to the next.
Our location suits the pace of South African manufacturing. We understand the pressure that comes with load-shedding planning, short lead times, coastal humidity in Durban and the need to keep production organised when stock has to travel far. Whether a job is going to a food, personal care, household or industrial product line, we approach it with the same practical mindset: clear communication, steady turnaround and careful handling at every stage.
What we make and how the formats differ
We focus on flexible packaging formats that work for different product types and pack sizes. Pouches are used for products that need a neat retail look and secure fill, while sachets are suitable for smaller portions, trial packs or single-use applications. Wraps remain a useful choice where product presentation, labelling and line speed all need to work together.
Because each format behaves differently, the print and converting approach has to be matched to the material and the end use. A pouch needs strong seals and reliable registration, a sachet often calls for efficient layout and accurate repeat detail, and a wrap has to carry the design clearly while running well on the customer’s packing equipment. We keep those differences in mind from the start, so the finished packaging supports the product instead of causing problems later.
- Pouches for retail packs, refills and portioned goods
- Sachets for samples, single serves and smaller quantities
- Wraps for products that need clear branding and line-friendly handling
- Flexible material choices suited to the pack format and product type
How we handle print, colour and prepress
Good flexo printing starts before ink ever reaches the material. Our prepress process checks artwork setup, layout, repeats, sizing and the details that affect how a job prints on press. That includes making sure the artwork is practical for the selected format and that the final pack will read well when it is filled and sealed. A file that looks fine on screen can behave very differently on material, so the preparation stage matters.
Colour matching is another part of the work we take seriously. Different products need different visual treatment, and brands often want the same colour to stay consistent across repeat production. We work with customers to keep colour expectations clear, and we use proofing and production checks to reduce surprises. It is careful work, and sometimes it means adjusting small details to get the result right rather than rushing ahead and hoping for the best.
Material selection also makes a difference to the final pack. The right substrate can affect print appearance, handling, storage and how the pack performs on filling equipment. We guide customers through these choices in plain language, so the decision is based on the product and the practical requirements, not on guesswork.
What our clients rely on us for
Many of our customers come to us for more than print alone. They need someone who can help them think through the pack, the schedule and the practical side of production. That is why our service range includes packaging consultation, short run orders, repeat production and dispatch coordination. Some clients are launching new products and need a smaller first run. Others need a steady supply pattern for established lines. We work with both.
Our team also understands that packaging is often one part of a bigger production chain. When the press schedule shifts, the filling date may shift too. When a product is going to another city, dispatch timing matters. We stay close to the process so the packaging is not treated as an afterthought. That approach helps local brands keep stock moving and reduces the kind of last-minute pressure that can affect the whole operation.
- Artwork prep and print proofing before production starts
- Short run orders for testing, launches and smaller batches
- Repeat production for ongoing packaging needs
- Dispatch coordination for deliveries across South Africa
The team behind the work
Flexography Printing Co is led by Siyabonga Ndlovu, our Managing Director, with a team that covers sales, production, client service, prepress and logistics. Priya Naicker handles sales with a practical understanding of how packaging decisions affect a customer’s day-to-day operations. Marius van Wyk oversees production, keeping an eye on process, quality and press readiness. Thandiwe Mkhize leads client service and makes sure communication stays clear from enquiry through to delivery.
Jason Petersen manages prepress coordination, which means the artwork side gets the attention it needs before jobs go to press. Lerato Molefe looks after logistics, helping coordinate deliveries and keeping the movement of orders organised. The strength of the team is simple: each person knows their part, and the customer does not have to repeat the same information again and again. That saves time and keeps the process cleaner for everyone involved.
Delivery reach and the way we work with brands
Although we are based in Pinetown, our work reaches brands across South Africa. We deliver to Durban, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Bloemfontein, Pietermaritzburg and Ballito, and we support customers who need packaging sent to different sites or production locations. For many businesses, that wider reach is important because supply has to stay steady even when operations are split across regions. We keep the process organised from order through to dispatch, so customers know where things stand.
Our way of working is straightforward. We listen to the packaging brief, check the practical requirements, prepare the artwork and print path, confirm the details, then move into production and dispatch. That process may sound simple, but in packaging it is the details that matter, and a small mistake can affect a whole batch. We prefer clear expectations, honest timelines and good follow-through. It is how we keep clients coming back and how we make sure the packaging we supply does its job properly.
